For 2019 we've made some dramatic changes. Not because Team Ineos or you were asking for it, but because we've been riding in it a ton and thinking constantly about how we could make it better. There's a new leg gripper that still features a lie-flat raw-cut edge but now has vertical silicone stripes to keep it in place without restricting stretch. The new fabric allows for better print quality for your custom team production, the same as Team Ineos will use in 2019. We've updated the seams to improve the fit and make the short look even better on the body. We've re-engineered the bib straps with new fabrics and construction so they stay cooler, lie flatter and are more durable. The revised Free 3 Aero Race Bibshort also receives the updated Progetto X2 Air seamless seat pad featuring the softest surface fabric you've ever felt in a seat pad. You'll be glad we ignore the old saying, If it ain't broke, don't fix it. - Vortex dimpled fabric on legs for aero performance - Forza fabric on inner legs with 38% Lycra content for perfect fit - Stripe mesh engineered minimalist bib construction keeps you cool - Giro4 leg gripper elastic for better grip distributed over larger area - Doppio V construction in front for increased support and comfort - Flat-lock stitching - Progetto X2 Air Seamless seat pad

Innovative evolution The Free Aero RC Bibshort is our top race short, which also means that it's insanely comfortable even if you never pin on a number. It's fair to say that we've been working on this short for the past 15 years. That's how long it's been since the original free aero race bibshort was first introduced, initially as our top-of-the-line race short. Since then it has won three Tours de France, three Gri d'Italia, one Vuelta, and San Remo, but it also became the best-selling product in the history of Castelli because, simply put, this is the short that does everything well. The concept is quite simple: start with the best pad we know how to make, surround it with a supportive short with good muscle compression, and then remove everything else that's not absolutely necessary. You feel free thanks to the reduced number of panels and the reduced number of seams. In fact, the short portion has just 5 panels compared to 10 in the previous generation. You feel free because of further refinements to the Progetto X2 air seamless seat pad. The two densities of foam plus the gel pads provide progressive damping, while the separate skincare layer is soft and stretchy to move with your skin. You feel free thanks to the most minimal bibs you've ever seen in a short, including open-weave straps for maximum airflow. But we reinforced the yoke so the straps stay in place and made the mesh back narrow for coverage that is minimal yet just enough to hold the shorts in place. And the bib elegantly frames a convenient pocket at the center back. You feel free because this is the first high-end short that doesn't need any sort of gripper or elastic at the end of the leg to keep the leg in place. Getting this right meant 28 prototypes and our most extensive test program ever, and it results in the most comfortable leg ending we've ever made. The Forza 2 fabric has 32% lycra with a high modulus for exceptional muscle support and just the right amount of compression. There's reflective piping on the back. And all logos are either stitched or embossed for durability. - High-compression 215g Forza 2 fabric with 32% lycra content provides exceptional muscle support and compression - Progetto X2 air seamless seat pad is soft against the skin but well padded for long-distance comfort - Minimalist bib straps allow maximum airflow, while a reinforced yoke keeps the straps flat over the shoulders - Rear mesh pocket - 5-panel construction for reduced seams and less chafing - Sublimation-printed graphic and logos that will never peel, crack, or fade - Reflective piping on back of legs - Soft waistband with raw-cut edge panels for extra stretch and comfort - Raw-cut leg ending engineered to stay put without silicone grippers

Light, Cool and Straight Out of the Future We've been pushing the envelope on lightweight shorts since 2011 but have butted up against the limits of compromising durability for ever lighter weight. We needed to step back and find a better way. We examined what the short really needs to do: it needs to hold the seat pad securely in place while otherwise adding as little weight or fabric as absolutely necessary (without being transparent, obviously), and it needs to last a season of hard use. So we engineered a brand-new fabric using a woven, rather than knit, construction that shaves 30% in weight for the same level of support and non-transparency. Then we worked with the world's leading mill to construct a gradient fabric that becomes increasingly lighter the farther down the leg it extends, with the last part weighing a mere 90 g/m2 compared to normal short fabric, which weighs around 220 g/m2. This fabric, while being insanely light, maintains a decent durability along with excellent abrasion resistance, at least against the saddle. We don't guarantee it against unplanned slides across the asphalt, so please keep the rubber side down! Note that while the short saves a mere 48 grams while dry, this means it also absorbs around 30% less moisture when you're sweating. So when you're sweating your way up the Alpe d'Huez you're actually saving closer to 150 grams. This short doesn't compromise on comfort. We use our top Progetto X2 Air Seamless seat pad, the spectacular striped mesh bibs from the Free Aero Race 4 Bibshort and a flat stretch woven leg gripper to keep everything in place. - The premium lightweight hot weather short - Gradient stretch woven fabric for minimal weight with optimum support - Ultralight fabric to reduce weight by up to 50% while improving durability - Minimalist stripe mesh bib to minimize weight and keep you cool - Integrated gripper elastic with exposed Lycra to hold leg in place - Embossed logos and stretch silicone scorpion heat transfers - Progetto X2 Air Seamless seat pad

This short is the result of decades spent working to make long hours in the saddle ever more comfortable. The fabric is our high-stretch Forza fabric. The 38% Lycra content means that it’s gently compressive while never binding. And it maintains an insanely soft hand. The nearly seamless construction is derived from our Body Paint shorts, which debuted a decade ago and started the trend of reduced seams while maintaining remarkable fit. Nothing to rub or break. The renowned Progetto X2 Air Seamless seat pad gets an update in this season with a new skin care layer that features a remarkably soft new surface fabric and more stretch, which allows us to eliminate the front triangle. We also obsessed over every other little detail, like the new bib construction and even new silicone logos that stretch with the base fabric and recall the logo location of the first Castelli Aero Short from the late ’70s, the short that started it all. - Forza fabric with 38% Lycra content for a perfect fit - Dual-layer lumbar support band keeps shorts locked in place around waist - Reduced seaming for more comfort - Raw-edge leg ending with vertical silicone grippers - Mesh back with bonded 2-layer bib straps - Silicone Castelli logos - Progetto X2 Air Seamless seat pad

The Premio Bibshort has been engineered to provide the ultimate in long-distance comfort and to be your favorite bibshort ever. That's a big claim, but there's a lot of development in this short to back it up. So let's take a tour of the short. The first thing you might notice is what's missing: the seams and multiple panels. We engineered a new fabric that changes depending on the needs over various parts of the body. The lower leg has a raw-cut leg ending and rubberized yarns to guarantee a flat grip to keep the leg in place. The fabric becomes lighter in the thigh, while the four-way stretch provides just the right amount of muscle support. In the pelvis area, the compression and support increase to keep the seat pad and everything else in place, and the fabric gets thicker to avoid any embarrassing transparency issues. With this magical fabric we don't need to stitch separate panels together, which ensures more comfort and a better fit, as well as a sleek, sophisticated look. The premium fabrics extend into the bib straps. The perforated back keeps you cool and the edge is bonded so you don't feel the thickness of a stitched edge. The elastic straps have just enough modulus (return) to hold your shorts securely in place without cutting in to your shoulders. The seat pad is our top-of-the-line Progetto X2 Air Seamless pad. It's actually two separate components: a soft, stretchy Skin Care Layer next to your skin, which has the sole purpose of preventing any rubbing on your skin, and, under that, the Cushioning Layer, which features two separate densities of foam along with breathable perforated gel inserts under the ischia bones and perineum. We've carried the less-is-more theme into the design, with minimalist laser-etched logos and subtle finishing. It looks as premium as it feels. You can tell that every component, every stitch, every detail has been obsessed over. You'll not find a better bibshort. - The premium all-conditions short - Gradient stretch woven fabric for the right support in the right place - Woven fabric weighs 30% less than comparable knit fabric - Perforated back bib panel with lie flat bib straps that don't bind at shoulders - Integrated gripper elastic at leg ending holds short in place without need for extra silicone grippers - Laser-etched logos with RossoCorsa at center back and black scorpion shadow logos at lower legs - Progetto X2 Air Seamless seat pad
